MORNING OFFERING PRAYER
Written by St. Therese of Liseaux, Doctor Universalis
O my God! I offer Thee all my actions of this day for the intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
I desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my simplest works, by uniting them to Its infinite merits; and I wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them into the furnace of Its Merciful Love.
O my God! I ask of Thee for myself and for those whom I hold dear, the grace to fulfill perfectly Thy Holy Will, to accept for love of Thee the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may one day be united together in heaven for all Eternity.
Amen.
VENI SANCTE SPIRITUS MEDITATION
MORNING MEDITATION
Veni Sancte Spiritus, KV. 47 in C Major - Composed by Mozart, age 12
Whiteboard Notes
Latin: "Veni Sancte Spritus " = English: "Come Holy Spirit"
The Holy Spirit is the great love shared between God the father and Jesus the Son.
The Holy Spirit is our guide, there for us to call upon throughout our day.
THE OUR FATHER
Jesus "was praying at a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.'"In response to this request the Lord entrusts to his disciples and to his Church the fundamental Christian prayer. St. Luke presents a brief text of five petitions, while St. Matthew gives a more developed version of seven petitions. The liturgical tradition of the Church has retained St. Matthew's text:
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
[CCC, 2759 ]
- Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2759; Matt. 6:9-15.
